Lyrical Lecture on
American Music

Join American musical historian Michael Lasser as he reprises
a lecture he gave several years ago at the New Britain Museum
of American Art, "Just a Song at Twilight: From the Civil
War to Ragtime." This retrospect traces the history of
American music in the second half of the nineteenth century,
following much the same path as the New Britain collection
on view in the galleries. Lasser has been described as an
encyclopedia of American song and dance whose presentation
is enriching, informative, and fun. The program is suitable
for all ages and is included with museum admission.
